My Scrummy little boy

One great thing about being a mom, is that I get to show off my little "wild things", and I don't really care if people get bored of them or not.

So here is my scrummilicious little boy...

How I love this little man..

It's weird, before D (my little boy)  was born , all my love was channeled towards my little girl Z. I laid awake many restless nights while pregnant with my little boy, thinking that:

A) How could I love this next child as much as Z?
B) What if I love D more than Z?

But I can thankfully say that I don't love Z any less ( if not more) and I have the exact same love for both D and Z. Which leads me to how glad that we managed to have the perfect pigeon pair.

Which leads me to: HOW TO MAKE A BABY BOY??

I followed a few tips online and they worked for me. ;)

Follow the link for some tips he he..

A friend of mine is trying for a second child and is really hoping to have a little boy, so she will be following some "tips". Hopefully in 20 weeks time we will be able to confirm if these indeed did help or not...

Also try a fun gender predictor:

If anyone is actually following my blog, but I doubt there actually are...

PLEASE PLEASE excuse the way I write, because I tend  to write the way I think, and that can be confusing at the best of times. Plus it didn't help I always had an excuse to miss out on English lessons at school. Either that or being sent out... :)  (well one little sweet follower)

Good bye Nappies hello potties

How naive was I when I look back to being a mum for the first time. All I had to use as a reference is that we were potty trained just after we started walking properly. Probably just after 1ish. So to my surprise when going to visit a friend of mine and her 2 and a half year old still made poo's in his nappy... I mean who does that? .. Really??

But here I am today with my little girl who is 2 years and four months, who has just had her first two nappy less nights. Whoo Hooooooo... and my apologies to my friends little boy at the time. I was a FOOL.

Training takes dedication from both parties, patience, reassurance and most of all my little girl understanding when she needs to use the potty before she actually has started the action. I am now a firm believer that you should leave them till they are ready. I must give a lot of credit to Z's crèche as they helped by putting her on the potty every half hour for several months before she one day just woke up and didn't want to wear a nappy. (Don't worry I have had to scrub a many carpet to)

Well a few days on and we have mostly had dry nights.

So a couple of things I have learnt not to do.

  • Never let her have a drink before bed
  • Always let her use the toilet before bed
You might think any idiot would know/not do the above , but trust me, its easy to forget with the 100 other things I have to do before I get the kids settled for the night.

THANK GOD FOR ROUTINES!!!

Biggest tip I can give: If you can find a already potty trained toddler; let them show your toddler the way.. works a treat..

Good Luck

RRRAAAAAAARRRR to realisation!!

One of those days today.

Both kids crying wanting my attention. I have a ton of stuff to do, cause the house looks like a hurricane hit it. And all I want to do is sit down and laugh from hysteria..

I know that the good days far out way the bad, but when you stuck in those bad days it seems you are stuck in Dooms Day....

Reason its a tough old day:

For a couple of days Z has had  a funny look about her. I kept saying to my husband that Z is not right. R (my husband ) could not see it. Low and behold this morning my poor baby has woken up with a horrible cold. (So once again the good old mom's instinct worked.)

Today is Creche day and after a lot of oohing and ahhing about whether or not I should take her to Creche, I decided I would as I have a lot mummy things to do at home today . Through the kids crying and trying to get both of them dressed, we set out for the walk to creche. . No sooner than we set off, we were on the way back home.. Yip one of those ..

Not the best start to the day.. but I have managed to give Z some calpol and she is happily sleeping under her peppa pig blanket. So one down and one to go.. But Master D still is insisting on staying awake.. its amazing how babies go from sleeping all the time , to fighting sleep all the time..

By just logging into Facebook , I realise that all of the above is insignificant.

There is a little boy called Jamie and I have been following his story. Little Jamie has relapsed Neuroblastoma (A very common childhood cancer) . This last week he has been gravely sick and many times it has been touch and go. He is thankfully gradually on the mend and they are hoping to have him home by Christmas.

Makes me realise how thankful I am to have these "dooms day" days.. At least both my children are healthy and with me.

If you would like to follow Jamie's fight against this awful disease follow the links:

Keep fighting beautiful little boy, there a lot of people behind you.. Especially your wonderfully strong mum and dad.

Here is a link for anyone that doesn't know what Neuroblastoma is:

Sod all the house work , I'm dedicating the rest of the day to my babies..

Dog poo , the park and shrubs..

Well my first post as such, although I will eventually be back dating.

Z my love when will you learn not to leave the house without mummy or daddy?? (Don’t let the old mother see this.. promise we left her for like 15 seconds)
So while dad collected some clothing to go into the tumble dryer for mummy; you decided to go for a tour of the neighborhood. Luckily you only managed as far as the neighbors garden. Unknowingly you managed to step in some dog poo.You can just imagine what happened next!!

You had a massive piece stuck to your shoe and walked right through the house from the front door to the kitchen. I have never been so mad at dog owners before, man was that the softest, smelliest poo ever. ( I afterwards went to go investigate and it could have possibly been cat poo , but don’t tell anyone as I gave dog owners a little piece of my mind on Facebook, well the ones that don’t pick up dog poo )

We were going to visit your cousin S but landed up staying at home. So off to the park it was. Its the first time we have ventured to the park in ages. The weather has taken a turn for the worse and we have have had  some awful rain of late with floods everywhere.

Love the sheer delight you have when at the park. Especially the swings, your favorite by a mile. Little D seemed to enjoy our trip out to, though looking at the picture you wouldn’t say .

Bit off topic… But…

(Just to get you up to speed about potty training. We have been trying to get Z trained for several months. Through a lot of moaning/cleaning carpets/binned pants and panties, about a week ago something just fell in place and Z has been a real super star. Mommy is so proud of you Z, cause you did this mostly by yourself.)

Anyways, so we at the park and Z says she wants to go to the toilet.. Oh dear!! I didn’t think about this predicament before we left… Not to panic though, there are public toilets there right..?? Right if they were unlocked. So after trying to convince Z to just put a nappy on we both made the decision that she will have a wee in the shrubs.. A true little bush veld child, bum waving in the air.

Well that’s how our day ended..
